BLACK HEART, IVORY BONES by Ellen Datlow and Terri Windling:

[From "This Week's Reading", MT VOID, 01/30/2004]

Ellen Datlow and Terri Windling edited six anthologies of "modern fairy tales" (in the sense of traditional fairy tales either retold in a modern setting or in a traditional setting, but with a modern sensibility). And I enjoyed BLACK HEART, IVORY BONES, just as much as all the others and recommend all of them. The other five are SNOW WHITE, BLOOD RED; BLACK THORN, WHITE ROSE; BLACK SWAN, WHITE RAVEN; RUBY SLIPPERS, GOLDEN TEARS; and SILVER BIRCH, BLOOD MOON--and, boy, is it impossible to remember which ones you have read and which you haven't!

THE CUTTING ROOM edited by Ellen Datlow:

[From "This Week's Reading", MT VOID, 07/01/2016]

THE CUTTING ROOM edited by Ellen Datlow (ISBN 978-1-6169-6167-1) is an anthology of horror stories about the movie business. Many were good, many were too graphic for my taste, and I liked the final story ("Illimitable Dominion" by Kim Newman) the best.

QUEEN VICTORIA'S BOOK OF SPELLS edited by Ellen Datlow and Terri Windling:

[From "This Week's Reading", MT VOID, 09/29/2017]

QUEEN VICTORIA'S BOOK OF SPELLS edited by Ellen Datlow and Terri Windling (ISBN 978-0-765-33227-1) is steampunk, but with fantasy instead of technology. "Victorian fantasy" or "gaslamp fantasy" does not quite describe it, because it differs from fantasy *written in* the Victorian era in being very much infused with 21st century sensibilities. I have always liked the anthologies edited by Datlow and Windling, particularly their "Year's Best Horror and Fantasy" volumes, and they do not disappoint with this one, even though this is composed of works specifically written for this volume rather than collected from other sources.
