While we are discussing particle personalities, I cannot help but note that this would go a long way to help explain some of the disturbing phenomena that have been noted in the world of late. On one hand we find that there is not enough ozone over Antarctica, so THE MT VOID Page 2 much so that people are seriously concerned about ozone depletion. On the other hand, Los Angeles has a problem with too much ozone in the air. It hangs over the city like it thinks it's pollution. Now suppose you were an ozone particle. Would you rather be basking in the warm California sun or freezing your valence off over some polar ice cap? At least we know that if the ozone layer really gets seriously depleted we can always move to California, where they make an ozone particle feel welcome. 2. Lincroft achieved a landmark last week when all attendees at the meeting had actually read the book under discussion. Along these lines, several people commented on the "silly" request that those attending the Women's History Club discussion of A HANDMAID'S TALE actually have read the book and pointed out that the Science Fiction Club discussed it in May 1987 without such onerous restrictions. [-ecl] 3. Members who have suggestions for discussion topics for Lincroft or Middletown should send them to Rob Mitchell and/or Evelyn Leeper (address et al. above) If anyone wants to try to organize a meeting in another location, contact Evelyn Leeper about getting it listed here. Membership counts for the various locations are as follows: AL 1 CB 1 DR 3 FJ 2 HO 35 HR 14 IH 1 LC 2 LZ 30 MT 38 PK 1 SF 3 WH 1 Red Hill looks like a possibility for meetings. I don't know why there are no meetings in Holmdel--maybe it's that the building is too big to get to the room and back in under an hour! [-ecl] 4. I realize this notice seems short, but we figured after the last couple of weeks, you needed a break. (Actually, so did we.) [- ecl] Mark Leeper MT 3E-433 957-5619 ...mtgzz!leeper
